Our Commitment to Social Responsibility

At Dkoko, we are proud to offer quality products handmade by our local sewing team in our very own production house in Granada, Nicaragua. Granada is a town famous for the skilled craftsmanship of the artisans who live there, which is why we chose to set up our shop five years ago in this special place, home to talented textile workers.

Dkoko designers went to live in Nicaragua to personally train our manufacturing team, since sewing swimwear was new to their repertoire of textile talents. After that first year of learning together, we have perfected our teamwork, incorporating traditional weaving skills into our designs and achieving the level of quality Dkoko is known for among our ocean-loving clients around the world.

Currently, our sewing shop staffs 8 full-time employees, who all receive maximum working benefits, including health insurance, social security and pension funds, two days off per week, a month of paid vacation per year, and double salary through the month of December.

Gigi Meneses: Creative Direction & Design

Designer Gigi Meneses Creative Direction

My name is Gilda but I am commonly known as Gigi. I am a person who day by day feels more comfortable in my own body and I define myself proudly as a woman nowadays.

I am a self-taught Visual Merchandiser who managed to study Fashion Design in Costa Rica (my birth country), and got an MBA as Fashion Stylist and Visual Merchandising in Milán, Italy. I have been in the retail industry since 2004 navigating through the Central American region with international brands such as MNG, MaxMara, WomenSeret, CorteFiel, Adolfo Dominguez, Guess, Diesel, Bennetton, and local ones such as Saul E. Méndez, Meat Pack, 21, Jeans Co, Autóctono and Ruta Urbana.

Without any doubt I am proud of those achievements, but I am prouder of the adventures which I had in between those titles and the ones I still have as a mother of two magical creatures: my sons. Counting this last challenge as the one and only, the most challenging one that I have overcome until this day.

During this past year I have found DKOKO and DKOKO finds me constantly. I am working myself in it and it has been growing with me.

I have learned lots of things and decided to compromise myself  to unlearn them all to start over and over again with space for new ways, new techniques, new feelings and new proposals for you to experience deeply inside of you.

I build a relationship with each brand that I work with. I put my mind, body and soul to enrich and nourish each one of the experiences that we offer.

My relationship with Dkoko can be felt around my chest and I hope you can feel it through each wave that you surf.
